会社の送別会で同じフロアの、普段は口数の少ない人と話が弾む。
年下の先輩で、若干24歳で指導部主任という肩書きを持つ、カオリさんとしておこう。
お嬢様系の女子高を卒業して接客の枠で会社に入り、２年目で大卒の新入社員を指導する係りに大抜擢される。
最初の研修で新卒のプライドを一度壊して、会社の組織人として再び組み直す一環だったことが後に分かるが、
年上にも一歩も引かない気の強さと生意気さ、マニュアルを越えるような接客態度に誰も逆らえない。
